The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Blue Ocean has started accepting applications for the second edition of Chimamanda Adichie Creative Writing Contest, which is the club’s flagship project. This initiative, part of our focus on Basic Education and Literacy, aims to nurture young writers from secondary schools in Port Harcourt.
We acknowledge that while some young people have a natural talent for writing, others may have a passion for it that can be developed. This will be achieved through a three-week boot camp where English professors, academic doctors, and teachers will mentor participants through various stages, culminating in the selection of the top 10 finalists for the grand finale on October 25, 2025. The winner will receive Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000), a free publication of their winning work, and Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Blue Ocean branded items. The second-place winner will be awarded Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000), a feature in the club’s quarterly magazine, and a branded gift. The third-place winner will receive Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000), a mention at Interact Day, and a branded gift.
Consolation prizes will be available for runners-up, and all qualifying home entries will be featured in the club’s magazine and spoken word production. We invite all young talents to participate in this exciting opportunity—your winning chance awaits!
